I blame you guys for this because you were drawing so much fanart of it I decided to finally give it a try
And now I'm using words like 'everypony' in real speech PLEASE HELP
Also I got totally lazy on the colors, I didn't even shade the scooter.. in fact I almost didn't even color it, and I almost didn't shade the mane as well but I decided i needed to at least finish ONE part of the picture xD

My mind is blown. This is awesome.

I managed to resist the ponies for a while... but then my brother became a brony.
I really like the shading on the mane and tail.

The character from my first tryout, drawn hopefully a little less godawful. Yay!
I belatedly realized I forgot to shade her hand. Oh well.
Tuesday, June 7th 2011, 3:21 PM
I really like how you've weighted your lineart!
Tuesday, June 7th 2011, 7:10 PM

^ References used, mostly for underlying muscle structure and in regards to the fire, how the colors go
A commission in which I was supposed to turn this character
into a scary monster. Success, yea, nay?
Lions are terribly hard for me to draw. And I apologize sincerely for that backround, it's just terrible but I've already been staring at this thing for far too long haha.

As hilarious as it looks in the little image, please full view! xD

Hmm I say third, your 1st tryout is really nice. It has a background, shading, nice colour use and the line weight is suiting. While its hard to see the anatomy its what a decent tryout should look like IMO
However this one is rather.. lacking.
Its extremely messy, the tone abuse throws me off. Your colours are nice once again but the tones, along with lack of background make this.. idk hard to look at?
The anatomy is off in a few plces, namely the face but its hard to tell because, not to sound like a broken record, the tones cover it up.
I think if you find any part of the image "terrible" then its safe to say maybe, you should have kept this for yourself and drawn a different image for your tryout.
I still think you are doing a great job though, I love your 1st tryout. Do something like that again for a 3rd tryout and I'd say in for sure =]

Lions are rediculously difficult for me to draw so yeah, the face did end up wonky. They're so.. weird and sloped and long looking! I much prefer drawing housecats. I'll wait for a couple more votes but I'll probably third anyway. We'll see.

also i wouldn't call this extremely messy that's harsh. i really like both your tryouts, you use tones well!
Wednesday, May 11th 2011, 7:49 PM
In, you obviously are up to par.
Wednesday, May 11th 2011, 9:11 PM
i don't think this is extremely messy either. i think you could have done a little work to refine the shapes of the final layer of black tones you put on, but overall it's obvious you know what you're doing, so i say in

Agreed with the above, in. :o

This is the kind of picture where I've been staring at it too long and start disliking it more and more every second. Gah!
Anyway, tryout one. Adulted for BLUD but if that's not necessary I'll take it off.
Self Critique --
THAT ARM WHAT. I should have cheated and chopped it off to make the picture MORE gorey and something.
Perspective is intended to be more birdseye view, as the character's posture portrays, but I shaded the water wrong and by the time I realized this, I'd gone too far to go back. Oh well.

No but seriously, uh this is so tight. The only thing is that the character's body is falling a weird way. As I understand it, he's been wounded and is falling into the water? I think his body is too stiff, and twisted in weird angles. (even if you messed up the water and intended it to be a different view)
Wednesday, April 13th 2011, 1:55 AM
is it like a regular animal or an anthro????? i can't tell because the anatomy is really confusing..
ur shading and colors are pretty boss
Wednesday, April 13th 2011, 2:04 AM
Meant to be an anthro but I'll admit, the anatomy was pretty borked over. x) I'll focus more on that on my next tryout and not do a weird ass pose that I probably should have given up on before I inked haha.
She was meant to be in the water for a while, hence the lack of splashiness, but I can't defend the twisted in weird angles, I'll admit.

I'm so excited for your next tryout! :)
Wednesday, April 13th 2011, 2:38 AM
Ohhhhh ok that makes a little... more sense?
Yea your technique is fab, just make a clearer picture next time.
Wednesday, April 13th 2011, 6:21 AM
dude....i like that arm...alot
rly looking forward to ur next tryout!

I think maybe it's just that it has two spines, or that the spine is distorted. My brain wants to follow the spine that starts on the neck, but it somehow stops and goes sideways. Ehh idk but the spine (...is it a spine? I CAN'T TELL) is what stands out the most.
I love love love this
The lineart is great and that shading is beautiful
and just get in here now.
