I've always wanted to draw chibis but never really found a style that I like. I think this works.
Anyway, I don't have a job anymore and have been drawing a lot more. I want to keep going, but im running out of ideas.
Any requests/art trades/collabs?

More crows adulted for size. Blah blah crits would be appreciated :)
Wednesday, July 13th 2011, 1:07 AM
I really really like the one on the left out of all the crows you've posted so far. I think it's got the most interesting pose
Wednesday, July 13th 2011, 4:27 AM
Yeah I agree...the refs were kind of boring poses. I hope to get good enough at birds that I can alter them to be a bit more interesting and dynamic without messing up too bad. haha
Wednesday, July 13th 2011, 3:02 PM
You can always try youtube for some videos of crows, and pause whenever you see them in a cool pose you want to reference, sometimes its better then having to go through a lot of pics on google

Adulted for size. I'm drawing a huge tattoo for my friend and it includes crows....I never draw birds or animals or anything other than humans really and I'm excited to widen my abilities! I know a lot of people here draw animals so would you do me a huge favor and critique the hell out of this?
I set it to public for redlines

(i hope i'm not out of turn critiquing before i've been accepted)
pretty good! your anatomy is a little off however; bird and crow wings are more refined and less layered than you've drawn them. the flight feathers are alot longer and spaced a bit further from each other, also the guy at the top looks kinda funny, his neck is kind of jutting out, he could probably use a longer neck to make him seem more streamlined. when i look at him i think more gull than crow. the shape and angle of his wings makes him look more like he should be being viewed from a birds-eye view, too (forgive the pun.)
couple of good refs for you:
remember that the wing is alot like your arm!
Tuesday, July 12th 2011, 7:59 PM
No, I think you can definitely critique and comment on other things as long as it's invited, just not tryouts. Thank you so much for the links!
Tuesday, July 12th 2011, 8:36 PM
there are a couple good photos for wing reference
here's a quick thing for the body!!

Extremely helpful thank you!

I know I was supposed to do a background but,...well i didn't. Sorry D:
I made him older on purpose
Friday, June 17th 2011, 6:42 AM
That sounds bad. I understand if people are mad D:
Friday, June 17th 2011, 7:07 AM
I like your illustrations, they are so whimsical. I say in.

I say third ONLY because of the background thing.
You're so great and you will obv be in but idk
actually maybe it wont even matter but for now I say third
Friday, June 17th 2011, 8:17 AM
i say in, i think your first tryout is enough as far as backgrounds go. in most tryouts, the artist doesn't make the characters interact with their environment and your other tryout was able to show that you were able to do what most tryouts lack, y'know? your choice of not having a background on this tryout might make it seem like it's lacking, but i like that it focuses more on the subject. i also love when tryouts use refs when applicable because it kind of proves that you're smart enough to use resources *_*

shit i thought you were in already
Friday, June 17th 2011, 11:07 AM
yeah, I didn't even notice you were re-trying out on your previous pic
love your style, get back in here
Friday, June 17th 2011, 12:22 PM
Friday, June 17th 2011, 12:45 PM
in, so totally beyond intermediate. this is beautiful.
Friday, June 17th 2011, 5:19 PM
I think your first one had such an amazing backround that it doesn't really matter if this one has or not, its very obvious you can backround XD
IN IN IN totally

Friday, June 17th 2011, 8:04 PM
Thanks guys! Um. I hope you don't mind, but is it okay if I assume half the oekaki won't vote out by the time this gets bumped? I want to start drawing more stuff.
Friday, June 17th 2011, 9:04 PM
I cant imagine you being voted out, maybe some thirds for lack of background here, but I think you're a pretty safe in. Technically, you probably could have snuck in.

I believe that lovers should be tied together
thrown into the ocean in the worst of weather
left there to drown in their innocence
Sunday, June 12th 2011, 10:01 PM
this is absolutely fantastic.
Sunday, June 12th 2011, 10:02 PM
well thats pretty good atmospheric shading it does look like its underwater!! i think there should be more floaty things and bubbles and debris tho (and kicked up sand, sand is always kickig up in huge poofs in water from fishes and impacts)
Sunday, June 12th 2011, 10:11 PM
For the guy, the shoulders look a bit odd, and the leg length and feet are a bit off. The woman's arms seem a bit short too. Also the bubbles could be a bit cleaner. Other than these small things that you could easily adjust I'm sure, this is a good pic with good focus on the characters and great appeal. Nicely done <:
Sunday, June 12th 2011, 10:20 PM
this is really, really nice, but I'd have to agree with fungasm about the legs.. his left leg is much longer than his right. also, the bottom of the feet seem off.. like you shouldn't see as much of the sole from this angle...
Sunday, June 12th 2011, 10:43 PM
I really like the concept of this drawing :3 In addition to what the above said, whilst you've drawn the hair of the people responding to the currents in the water, you haven't done the same with the clothes. The girl's ribbon and skirt, for example, should be floating slightly upwards.
Sunday, June 12th 2011, 10:43 PM
this is really nice! good luck, i remember you i don't know if you remember me
Sunday, June 12th 2011, 10:50 PM
Thanks you guys for the crits! I definitely noticed a lot of it once I submitted it (isn't that how it always it DX) and I plan on changing those things once this gets bumped and isn't being critiqued anymore. I'll save the original so you guys can compare tryout 2 to it, of course.
And yes! Jessoso I remember you :3 I miss seeing your art here...or at all really D: I used to watch you on DA but I think you changed accounts?
Sunday, June 12th 2011, 10:56 PM
haha i did! i just haven't announced it ~ publicly ~ yet because i still owe a few commissions but my new account is sort of dead right now too. it's greyhoundredux if you're interested tho! i have to retryout again, too, but WHEN I GET THE TIME... i'll finally be able to draw here again
Monday, June 13th 2011, 2:40 AM
the color scheme on this is really lovely, glad to see you here again
