Something I was working on for awhile. Sorry it isn't finished yet.
Thursday, February 2nd 2012, 1:26 AM
wow! this is super impressive! I like the coloring and how you've done the glow, and also the head/shoulders/upper abdomen are really sharp :-) Just the use of color and line and composition in general.. is great :-)

This is looking pretty neat, the green bottom lighting is very cool. Can I make a little crit though (you seem to often look for them so if you don't want it just ignore me)?
I'm not sure if you're trying to make the green light the predominate light-source of this image, but if so we wouldn't get the color variety we see here. Without a second more natural light the only colors that we'd really pick up are greens (green visually comes off a green object, things that aren't green, or contain green such as white, absorb the light and will look very dark or even black so without a second light anything not green shouldn't have color/value).
If you are working a second natural light-source (ie. white light or close to white which would then give us our color variety) it would likely be the predominate light. As such there should be a dark transition between the normal color and where the green secondary lighting starts (a green secondary light would show up in the absence of the primary light ie. shadows of the primary).
thats about the only decent example of what I mean for green only. Its just sort of green or nothing.

Sooo I was working on this then I found out art finals are next week! So I am just going to save this here for now.
Anyways there is a problem with the pirates arm that is stretching out and I'm not sure what it is yet... if anyone would like to red line that would be awesome!
And I also am not sure what to put in the back of the boat yet.... I thought about treasure but it would clash with the gold robot.
(this isn't quite finished, but Crits are welcome!)
Wednesday, November 30th 2011, 1:43 AM
It looks like the robots extended hand is too big.... or at least thats all I can see. This is brilliant.
Wednesday, November 30th 2011, 4:29 AM
i think the arm gets a little too big after the armband/coufling thing compared to the part of the arm before the band. ehhh idk if that made sense...
Anyways, i really enjoy your illustrations, the way you highlight and light stuff is awesome!
Wednesday, November 30th 2011, 9:48 AM
Thanks guys! K so I need to work more on the robot hand and watch the arm thickness of the pirate. Glad you guys like how its going so far.

Boobies. This has multi layer pics.
Anyways, I started this and then couldn't get the bodies the way I wanted them. (mostly because I need to practice my anatomy!) I'm going to redo this.
SO I have been practicing!
I am working harder to make better sketches AND THEN build on them.

Just some rushed comics (there are more multi pages under each layer if you watch the animation).
Sometimes I feel like a nerd for doing group rp comics, but I really like to! And it really helps me practice (which I need a lot of.)
Tuesday, August 30th 2011, 8:55 AM
I'm not sure exactly what is going on in this comic, but I am in love with the detail........... and the way you draw people. O_O
Tuesday, August 30th 2011, 11:16 AM
you're so awesome
I like your b/w stuff even more than your colored work
Tuesday, August 30th 2011, 3:41 PM
Thanks very much! I love drawing people and faces. I also really like b & w (evvvvverything looks better in b&w) and its a lot faster to paint in.
Glad you guys like it, I was nervous posting this because its still choppy, but I liked them to much to just delete it though.
Thursday, September 1st 2011, 9:27 PM
levels of detail are really spot on
Thursday, June 30th 2011, 2:42 PM
Just a little avatar gif thingy. I want to learn how to animate things this summer and I thought I would start off slow.
My Oc Cassio blink.

Look's like a stray pixel enters its hair when the eye is closed on the right side. :O
But this is super detailed! Love all the colors. :D

Hey franz I'm wondering if there is some special fantastic way to stop the layers from merging by themselves? (I've redrawn this 4 times, but each time they become one. like lovers.....)
Monday, June 20th 2011, 2:09 AM
You need to use animated shipainter pro, not just normal :o
Monday, June 20th 2011, 2:23 AM
I thought that may be the problem. K thanks!
Monday, June 20th 2011, 5:03 AM
<3 it still looks freaking awesome.

the girl with the yellow hair is actually an alien that is why she has some green skins and a big head. I also added different colors to the shades and did some sketching before starting the bodies this time.

definitely in but there is so much going on in this picture i dont really know where to look, watching the animation was interesting because i feel like it looked better without the rain, but i understand that you wanted a lot of action and to very much tell a piece in this so yeah. i really love the tiger in the fire, it looks amazing, i didnt even notice him for a while and when i did i was like WOW he looks great
Friday, June 17th 2011, 3:38 AM
i agree, there is so much going on in the picture, that the background at times melds in with the foreground and my eyes are buzzing everywhere. which i a shame because there are so many beautiful details in this piece. i especially love the man in the bottom, there is wonderful shading on him. it looks like there are some explosions in the background, but i cant tell because i just cant make it out. tbh this pic would probably do better with a multiplied layer and some shading on characters that are father back, lol as a kinda copout. but this is really great either way, in in in.
Friday, June 17th 2011, 3:46 AM
I have a hard time focusing on your tryouts, as in what is exactuly going on. I love the details and work you put into all of them, just seems like I get lost in the micro, and can't see the big picture. In for sure, just want to put my two cents in. Tiger fire is my favorite <3
Friday, June 17th 2011, 3:53 AM
IN IN IN ININI Ninfkanin So awesome ;v;
Friday, June 17th 2011, 4:05 AM
you are awesome

Friday, June 17th 2011, 4:18 AM
i love this
n i guess im not a member but watever i disagree with the criticism, i mean there is a lot going on but ithink thats what makes it @w$uM cuz i think it allows for you to spend more time looking at the picture, n i mean in the age of the internets when images r so prolific i think its nice when something slows my rollllll
yea anyways thanks for drawing this its tighht
Friday, June 17th 2011, 4:31 AM
the sheer effort you put into your tryouts is so so so so so fantastic. it makes me happy hahaha
get in here, at once!
Friday, June 17th 2011, 5:05 AM
......IN Holy crap I hope you do stuff like this all the time.
Friday, June 17th 2011, 5:29 AM
So utterly in
Friday, June 17th 2011, 5:48 AM
Thank you so much for the ins so far! I'm glad you guys enjoyed it. I do agree about the rain lol I had my doubts when I started, but I decided to (do some safety saves lul) just do it anyways for practice.
The things I'm really trying to work on is doing more complex pictures and its a pain because it takes so long, but I'm trying to get myself to become better. I do tend to go over board so crits are always welcome. (so yeps I will be doing pictures like this one (and this long) here.)
Friday, June 17th 2011, 5:53 AM
Oh and I do like to put little "secrete" things or details all over the place I don't know why.....just a weird fact...
Friday, June 17th 2011, 8:38 AM
i have to agree that your tryouts are really eclectic, but this isn't an advanced oekaki so i'm saying in! they're crazy to look at, but the effort really shows and i love what you did!!

Tryout #1 |
Saturday, June 11th 2011, 2:39 PM
I seem to like to draw pictures that show a story and have strong female characters with lots of color and I am a fool for detail. I also like to spend an insane amount of time on them.
This is some of my characters the bearded lady, fat madam, and the tallest man in the world. UGH I'm so nervous!
Oh! and I believe in ufos....
Saturday, June 11th 2011, 3:08 PM
this is so good wow. i love all the purple you used in your shading and hfsdkg
man good luck!!!
Saturday, June 11th 2011, 5:29 PM
oh, wow, jeez
this is really cool.. good luck <:D
Saturday, June 11th 2011, 6:00 PM
holy fuck get in here
someone archive this
Saturday, June 11th 2011, 6:21 PM
Saturday, June 11th 2011, 7:32 PM
That lady has a beard.
I'm quite sure that's justification for an archive as well as an immediate acceptance in.
Saturday, June 11th 2011, 8:08 PM
I like it. I can see you're great at coloring and adding in detail, though it looks like you were focused more on the detail. Which shows that the construction and perspective to be lacking quite a lot. Her anatomy is just sliding everywhere and seems like it's melting off of her, instead of looking like it's perspective like she were charging towards us. For the next tryout I would love to see better form and more clear and appealing silhouettes of the characters. In short, details do make a pretty picture, but should be added after you have the main structure down pat. Keep it up, you can only get better from here on out <:
Saturday, June 11th 2011, 8:43 PM
Thank you very much for your support guys! I am really glad you enjoy this one. (and bearded ladies)
@fungasm: I completely agree with you on the anatomy wobble. Its one of the things I plan on really getting to know better this summer (the other thing I am working on is loosening up my figures). I will do my best to be more complete with my figures before I start the details this next time. And thanks for the complements as well :3
Thanks guys for commenting and crits again! It gives me a real nice boost to start the next one.
Saturday, June 11th 2011, 10:34 PM
Ah! I know you from NDA oekaki <3
This is lovely, I love your use of color and your fun characters.
I do agree with Fungasm aswell, the perspective is a bit wonky.
Good luck with your second tryout!
Saturday, June 11th 2011, 10:52 PM
we always love when people use different colors in shading but i almost feel like this is TOO purple and TOO yellow, it looks realyl strange and unnatural? while using other colors is good there isnt just 1 right color to shade with, generally there are multiple colors you use in shading, and i feel like the yellow you used is too harsh, especially for on her skin. like has been said you should first focus on sketching out the image and focusing on anatomy and figure out your light source, and then after you do that you can worry about the details. the angle on her face seems strange too, the way her eyes are drawn cocmpared to her nose and everything i cant.. figure out whether were looking straight at her, down on her face, or looking at it from a s light angle above. like evveryone said this is impressive because of the details, but you need to make sure the rset of the image is cohesive before you get into that!
Sunday, June 12th 2011, 12:44 AM
i really like it!!! it's very interesting to me
Sunday, June 12th 2011, 12:11 PM
Thanks for coming to take a look!
@a kim: I see what you mean with the face I actually hadn't noticed! I'll be sure to work that out more next time. Yeah about the waiting on the details I always get to into things I gotta fight that this next time! ALSO I will focus on mixing more colors for the shading. Should be fun I love to shade and shadows <3
Thanks for the heads ups and complements (and heya! I thought that was you lemon! Thanks for the good luck! )
