Awesome! :D happy late birthday~
:O WHAT KIND IS IT?! I got an intuos 2 a while back at it was so annoying to use compared to my itty bitty graphite... >__< But I don't know how I could stand a tiny tablet, now~
Her dress is adorable, by the way! Soft colors are so nice. :)

My family keeps asking if I'm pregnant since all my fat went only to my belly...I hate working out ugh, gotta do it though before people start wanting to touch my belly thinking something is in the oven >=[
Monday, July 25th 2011, 6:05 PM
oh damn. that's the worst place to have fat. xD i love working out but i hate just plain jogging. it's like...just doing the same thing over a period of time haha.

One of my friends is having the same problem. She asked me if she was eating too much but I know she really doesn't. Turns out she used to do 80 sit ups a day then gave up recently. lol I've always had a jelly belly myself...Going to start gym next month! xP
lumpy. space. princess.
Tuesday, July 26th 2011, 4:05 AM
It is normal to have lumps.

I want to play a game...but the family is watching TV downstairs, and the game I was playing on the computer is down for maintenance. Arrrgh
Monday, June 20th 2011, 6:15 AM
dklfjalfd I made a new game on Minecraft with a mod called "Now thats what I call minecraft". It basically is a mashup of a ton of mods...anywho
It has giant zombie/spider towers that are usually out in the distance that you can just choose to fight or not. Not this time...it was right in the middle of the town. I've died so many times so far, so I felt like drawing to sooth the anger I feel for the spiders.
And..my character skin looks like Stocking yay :3
Monday, June 20th 2011, 9:58 AM
lol, I've played Minecraft waaayy too much
sort of hooked to Terraria now, it's a nice change of pace
I might come back to Minecraft after this tho :P
Monday, June 20th 2011, 5:01 PM
did the mod download completely for you? idk what my computers problem is but i cant download most of the mods together or add more mods. like ive seen people with humans + and millinare but it wont let me x(

I LOVE the Now mod :) It makes the game su much fun hahaha. It lags my game so much though :(

This was my very first character I made back when I first started oekaki...about 10 years or so ago. Her name was Meena and she was totally hardcore. Her whole family died (lol) and it was her kitty boyfran that killed them. She had a glowing necklace thing that would save the world n shiz. Oh and I always drew her drenched in her kitty friend's blood.

This is for my friend for her birthday coming up on Sunday. I haven't drawn furries in awhile..blagh. I totally can't draw their weird feet anymore.
This character of hers though I thought would be more suitable to draw because..its the first character I drew for her, and its pretty much how we met.
Friday, June 3rd 2011, 7:26 AM
Haha nice, I've never drawn furries but you pull them off very well; feet included :)
I really looove the hair <3
Friday, June 3rd 2011, 3:02 PM
Haha I think I know your friend too. :D The feet look okay to me. :) ANd she has a more humanoid face anyway, probably makes it easier for you, haha!
Friday, June 3rd 2011, 9:23 PM
I drew furries all up until last year when I went to practicing human anatomy. I've been doing realisic-esque humans...and realistic furries creep me the hell out. :B Now it seems like the furries are foreign to me XD.
asdfal thats awesome :D She is pretty well known on FA and an admin on FAM so ahah, a lot of people do. Eva is so nice, I bet she'll get thousands of birthday presents xD
Saturday, June 4th 2011, 4:22 AM
All of us are a bunch of furries.
If you're ever in Naia don't hesitate to come to the naia circle, i'm usually afk there on my alt Camile.

I've been swamped lately, so haven't really been able to do much. First picture since my tryouts ^^
I just wanted to draw something simple before I get off for the night..
Wednesday, June 1st 2011, 6:11 AM
I really like the noise in this a lot! And the blues over the skin tone.
Wednesday, June 1st 2011, 6:22 PM
I like this! The texture here looks pretty neat with the picture, and I agree--that's a wonderful nose ;u;
Tryout #2 |
Thursday, May 26th 2011, 4:44 AM
I've always wanted to do a concept like this. I was originally going to do someone painting their color back, but I saw a pose I really liked. So I changed that initial plan. This was a little difficult for me to do background wise..blrrrgh
Thursday, May 26th 2011, 5:18 AM
i love this
the foot closest to us is kinda weird though at the ankleish part
Thursday, May 26th 2011, 5:36 AM
I noticed that right after I finished ;3; I had put the bump too far up as well. I wish there was a "you're able to edit once after submitting" rule. I always seem to only spot mistakes after I'm awaiting crits. xD
Thursday, May 26th 2011, 6:36 AM
In, absolute gorgeousness.
Thursday, May 26th 2011, 10:43 AM
In, you're definitely up to standards.
This is a pretty interesting concept and a pretty difficult one to pull off. I think you're close, but maybe didn't quite nail it in all truth. It took me a while to understand what was going on here, at first I just thought she was sitting in some nasty pile of sci-fi slime while having her period... o_o; And possibly stabbed in the chest. She just looks pale, not void of color.
For one, I think for this you either need to also line the background, not bleach the background (so its only her loosing color) or have the color run off more... emphasized or something. Maybe make her transparent where her color is gone (so you'd need more BG). It'd probably be good to have left more color on her and made it more in the process rather than towards the end of the color loss. Maybe have her posed in a way that brings more attention to the fact, even perhaps put something in the foreground to explain the situation (say a paintbrush or a spilt container of water...)
I'll leave anatomy stuff up to someone more into people arts. But I do find this pretty cool, don't get me wrong, I just think the idea isn't quite as clear as it could be.
Thursday, May 26th 2011, 7:14 PM
LOL sci-fi slime and period blood. Lmfao oops. I didn't think about lining the trees and the background, that would have helped with the idea so much. I made her a little transparent in the leg area, but yeah it probably would have been abit better to add more background behind her and fade it more.
I think it would have probably been portrayed better with the initial idea I had of having her in the bathtub with the colors running into the water. I really wanted to show the anatomy though, and couldn't think of a way to do that with the bath.
Or even her painting her color back would have portrayed it a lot better.
Tryout # 1 |
Sunday, May 22nd 2011, 7:16 PM
I decided to try out because I am in desperate need of crits. I really really want to improve. Lighting is pretty difficult for me, so I thought I should try to do a dynamic light source. I kind of wish I didn't use yellow for this, I'll try to make more believable lighting in my next tryout.
Saturday, May 21st 2011, 6:25 AM
ahh man, that's the worst, i'm sorry /: this is cool though, i'm excited for your next one!
Saturday, May 21st 2011, 6:31 AM
That happened like four years ago when I tried to apply for the advance oekaki ( not sure if its still around ) and gosh it just made me give up trying out for it altogether, it SUCKS.
Good luck on the next one though!
Saturday, May 21st 2011, 7:46 AM
Maybe make this a top layer, set to multiply, then a layer under that, use white as a silhouette, and then under that do your background as normal. Will take a little work, but you can finish it then. :)
Sunday, May 22nd 2011, 9:13 PM
this looks like someone i know!! the only thing i could crit is that a bit of the top should be cropped off for compostion purposes. you aare very talented, too :)

Monday, May 23rd 2011, 3:22 AM
UM LOL you don't have to tryout to get critiques. just ask people to give you some
it looks like her body is really twisted, like her chest is almost a profile view, her hips are slightly facing away from us and her legs are those of a person that would be sitting or laying down with their back almost completely turned to us. if you try to lean on your elbows the same way she is, twith them so far back, it;'s really painful.
overall, compared to the figure, the background is pretty messy and undefined, and the perspective is different than the perspective of the figure. she looks like someone is viewing her from striaight on, while the background looks like the viewer is above her
i suggest using more references for anatomy, and if you can't find the pose you want, try it yourself and see if it's actually possible. if you can do it, take a picture of yourself or have someone take a picture of you to reference from
Monday, May 23rd 2011, 3:50 AM
Ahah, people give the weirdest redlines are SSO, and the only place I've gotten critiques on is Gaia. They give maybe one crit though :I.
Thanks so much for the crits. I really should have tested this pose out first. I figured there were a few flaws with it, but I still really liked the idea of the pose. Now that I look at it again I really should have made the legs in more of a side view instead of them looking like its straight on.
I fail so hard at backgrounds, so I will try to work on the background first and really define it in my next tryout.
Monday, May 23rd 2011, 3:55 AM
OH LOL i thought you were accepted for some reason??? my bad
Monday, May 23rd 2011, 4:03 AM
I was accepted like...4 years ago? XD
Monday, May 23rd 2011, 10:12 PM
it helps to look at references, even if you cant find the exact pose you want, acting it out yourself helps more than you may think. Even if you cant necessarily look in the mirror, you can FEEL how its supposed to look.
This picture shows, to me, that you dont necessarily understand the essential parts of the body. The arms are very inaccurate, and you werent able to draw the back/shoulders. Simply studying references and anatomy study would have fixed these problems.
Monday, May 23rd 2011, 10:14 PM
(normally I would not say to use art for reference, but sometimes it helps to see how someone else handled it, providing you understand WHY they put lines or color where they did)
I didnt touch on lighting. Lighting is something that really only comes with lots of practice, it looks more like opaque paint than light. The skin will take on the glow of your lighting (yellow on light skin usually isnt a good match, as you said), not just a yellow paste.
Monday, May 23rd 2011, 10:48 PM
yeah i agree with naill uh
redlines are good and all, but remember that everyone has their own approach to the human body, even people that seem to have a really good deal of it? and honestly, i dont personally think that redlines help that much, its better to learn on your own i feel like then just draw what other people draw for you! so basically take those redlines into consideration, but also look at photos! i dont know if you are trying to go for a realistic style or not, but even if you arent, looking at photos or just looking at people in general and then using that as a starting point for your stylization makes the transition easier and better looking.
Tuesday, May 24th 2011, 12:48 AM
I've been studying up like crazy this past week after a major stale year in art. So all of the feedback REALLY helps. I agree with you kim on the redlines, I've felt I learn more when I actually learn -why- something works that way. Lately I've been only trying to fix my faces though, as they were <___> anime far apart styled. Ergh.
I think now I will go straight to in depth studying the body. I haven't really looked at nude references since I draw in a hallway where everyone sees me. I'll take my sketchbook in my room and try it that way. Also saw a figure drawing class for my area. =]
Its so odd that the human figure is so difficult to draw than most things..In theory it should be easy since we see it all the time. I really just need to sit down and learn from the references, instead of just copying what see.
