My first tryout! You can all call me Aeon btw.
I had a few issues getting my tablet pan settings to work with the oekaki since they were adjusted to work perfectly with Photoshop.

Aw. My crappy tablet has no settings. D: I can't set pressure or nuffin. Nuffin. at. all. </3
This is cute though. His face is so sweet. :3 perhaps the background could be made more defined with a few more highlights? ^_^

I'd tried putting some in, but my dark overlay to desaturate the image muted them quite a bit. I didn't want them too shiny or the baby wyvern's highlights wouldn't have been as intense as I'd wanted.
I had to resort to switching my tablet from pen mode to mouse mode to get it to stop doing a color selection every time I tried to draw.
What kind of tablet do you use btw?

wacom cte-440. cheap little thing. I got it when I was 12 and didn't use it for awhile and the cd got lost, and I failed to remember it had when. It dawned on me today that even though I got it 9 years ago I could probably still find the drivers online and I found it! :D So now I can change pen pressure and stuff.
That def made my day. :D

Awesome! Mine's a Wacom Bamboo Pen CTL-470. The driver's just updated for it so it had been a bit wonky earlier in the week.
Also, think I'm good to do a second tryout picture? I've got an awesome idea for one that I'd be able to do after my work week is over (because it's going to take forever to draw)

Hi Aeon; welcome. Naturally you can do a second tryout picture.

I was wondering since the rules say that if the first isn't approved at all to just practice for 2 months. Since there's no defined "approved" "declined" feature I wasn't sure.

Oh... Those must be a written holdover from long ago, when this oekaki was more active and was receiving many tryouts.

Yeah, this is/used to be a high-end Oekaki board, so I guess as long as it shows that you put a decent amount of effort in your work, it's ok to post things.
I dunno, haven't seen the owner of this place for ages, or any other person with authority, so there's nobody to kick you off the board either ;)

Aha, well in that case, I'll keep my drawings on here upwards of 2-3 hours for time.
I'll admit it's odd trying to get used to an Oekaki after using nothing but Photoshop and Paint Tool Sai for so long.

With oekaki, you can also just navigate away from/close out the page that loads after you press the 'upload' button, and it will be posted to your oekaki gallery (when you search your username) without being posted to the main page. I do this a lot when I feel like the art I created isn't worth bumping down other's work.
I really like the endearing, sweet expression. You did a good job of conveying the youthfulness.

Yeah, the safety saves. I've used Oekakis before, but it was a long time ago.
And I've been sculpting baby wyverns lately so I've had some practice getting their adorable little smiles just right.
