Q: Is this place free to join?
A: Of course it is. Free to join, draw, and make new friends.

Q: What is an Oekaki?
A: An Oekaki is basically an online drawing board. Members draw pictures using the built-in drawing boards and submit them onto the front page where other members may comment about the image.

Q: How do I draw here?
A: First make sure you're registered and a member and you've read all the rules. If you're logged in you should see a "Draw" option at the top. Hover your mouse over that link and all the drawing boards will be displayed underneath.
Shi-Painter is the newest board. It has more tools and options than the other boards.
PaintBBS was commonly used before Shi-Painter and its tools are easier to understand for beginners.
OekakiBBS is...SO...old...learn the other two first. =]

Q: Can I make more than one account?
A: Yup, but we'd prefer if you stuck with only one account.

Q: How many tryouts do I have to draw?
A: All artist members must draw 3 tryout pictures to the best of their abilities.

Q: How many safety saves do I get?
A: We no longer limit the amount of safety saves you use as long as you follow this method of safety-saving:
Send the picture but do not put anything in the title or comment box, and don't click the submit button. Just search for your name, find your image and retouch when you're ready to finish it. When you've completed your picture, edit your comment and ask an admin to bump the image.
If this still confuses you...
I have made a screencap-walkthrough of how to do this.

Q: How do I know if I've been accepted?
A: After you've finished all your tryouts, count the number of rejections and compare it against the amount of acceptions.
Borderline counts as a rejection since you're not quite to standards yet.
If there are more people rejecting that accepting, you should practice in another oekaki for 2 months before trying out again.
If everyone rejects your first image, we suggest you hault your tryouts and practice for 2 months elsewhere.

Q: What if I'm rejected?
A: Just act mature and thank everyone for taking the time to look at your artwork. There's a minimum time of 2 months before you're allowed to tryout again, so we'd suggest practicing at the Sketcher Oekaki.

Q: Can I still comment if I'm not accepted?
A: Of Course! In fact, we highly suggest you get familiar and friendly with the members of this oekaki if you're planning to one day be a part of it.

Q: How do I... Bump a picture?
A: If you want to bump your own picture, retouch, sent it, and choose "Yes" in the bump area.

Q: How do I... Safety Save?
A: Send the picture but do not put anything in the title/comment box, and don't click submit on that page. Just search for your name, find your image and retouch when you're ready to finish it. When you've completed your picture, edit your comment and ask an admin to bump the image.

Q: How do I... Get Upload Access?
A: Only admins have upload access.

Q: How do I... Recieve an Archive?
A: The admins are the only ones that can archive a picture, but they have to go through this checklist:
1. Is the anatomy proper/okay/acceptable with few flaws for the subject of the image?
2. Does the background compliment and incorporate the main focus of the image/not distract?
3. Are the lines clean with few colors bleeding over that distract too much from the picture?
4. Does it have good composition / not that cluttered ?
5. Do you want to intimately make-out with this piece of beauty?
If you can nail all of those, you have a chance of recieving an archive. Remember, archives are the best of the best.

Q: How do I... Change my avatar?
A: Go to Admin-->Profile, and you should find an area in there that will allow you to change your avatar.

Java displays an X when drawing.
Fix: Head on over to Java.com and install the newest javascript. That usually fixes the problem. If it's still showing as a red X, make sure your computer isn't blocking all javascript from being downloaded.

Problems Retrieving Password.
Fix: Make a new account and o-mail ~*Eevee1*~ and ask for the password to your old account to be resent.

Q: Is it safe for my child to draw here?
A: There are options that filter out certain things that children shouldn't be seeing. Every person who joins has the filters automatically on, but they can alter it in their profiles to allow adult viewing. We do not allow extreme gore or pronographic images to be drawn here, and any will be deleted on the spot to keep this oekaki clean.

Q: What about curse words?
A: All accepted members here have read the rules and know that excess cursing isn't allowed. We do, however, allow the following words: Hell, Crap, Damn. Anything else will be edited by the admins and filtered out.
